Symptoms of complex PTSD
Complex PTSD is related to an ongoing or prolonged event or a series of traumatic events over time. Not all survivors of abuse will experience PTSD, but it should be acknowledged that the possibility exists. Many times, PTSD will resolve over time, but accessing mental health services and having a supportive environment certainly will help with resolving these symptoms. If you are a service provider, friend or family member, or faith leader, knowing that these symptoms are not uncommon will help you provide grace and space for the person recovering after leaving abuse. For survivors, it helps to know they are not alone in feeling any of the many symptoms of PTSD.
