Statistics about domestic violence

Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence, family violence, or domestic abuse, is everywhere. It is important that we know the statistics because it keeps us from thinking that it only happens to other people, or on the other side of town. Domestic violence is no respecter of persons. Victims can be any age, any gender, any ethnic background, or any religious background. Victims can have any socio-economic status or have any amount of education. People become victims of domestic violence because they are targeted for this behavior by someone who feels entitled to engage in destructive and toxic behavior patterns. Abuse is never the victim's fault.
