How domestic violence changes those who have lived with it

Domestic violence is an insidious evil. There is little way a person can experience abuse and not be forever changed by it. Individuals vary with regard to resiliency, with some being more able to overcome the effects than others. Are you the one experiencing abuse? The graphic below displays ways that domestic violence can show up in our lives and change us.

Do you suspect that someone you love is being harmed in their relationship? This graphic shows some of the changes you might be seeing in their moods or behavior. You can help by reaching out to see if there is some way you can help.

"In order to empathize with someone's experience, you must be willing to believe them as they see it and not how you imagine their experience to be." ~Brene Brown
